Congratulations to our Junior Camogie Team who beat St Flannans in the Clare ‘A’ colleges final 6-9 to 2-3 in Clooney GAA pitch on Tuesday. This was a wonderful way to wrap up a hugely successful year for our girls who have shown great commitment and determination throughout this years campaign to achieve their goals of becoming All Ireland 7’s Champions, All Ireland ‘B’ Champions, and Clare County Champions. These girls have not lost one game this year and that is a fantastic achievement.

7’s B All Ireland Champions 2014-2015

Congratulations to our 7’s Camogie team who competed in the All Ireland Finals in Blanchardstown, Dublin this weekend. Our girls faced stiff opposition from St Killian’s, Ballinasloe, Co Galway and St Louis Grammer School, Ballymena, Co Antrim. A number of our girls had experience of the All Ireland 7’s as they were a part of the winning ‘C’ team last year and this experience proved invaluable on the day. Having beaten the Connaught representatives a convincing, 5-7 to 1-1, our girls faced St Louis, Ballymena, who also got through to the final putting up some high scores. As expected, the final was a very tough game. To win this match we knew we would need all of our experience and the hours put into training. Before the match, we were focused on winning all the small battles and keeping St Louis on the back foot. Laura McGrath found the net after 3 minutes with a spectacular self-made goal. Our captain, Regan Conway found the posts with 3 frees in the first half. Bridin Dinan and the rest of the back line Alannah Ryan, Aoife Touhy and Aoife Vaughan worked tirelessly in the first half clearing ball and stopping the Ballymena attack. The half ended 1-5 to 0-2. The second half was always going to be a challenge and we knew St Louis would come out fighting. The second half started brightly for St Joseph’s with Evelyn Duggan scoring a goal in the first minute bringing her tally 7 goals, 5 points for the competition. This goal was quickly followed by another from Regan Conway. Niamh O’Gorman. Laura McGrath and Sinead Conlon continued, as they had all day, working vigorously to create scoring opportunities. However the St Louis comeback was on and they responded with 3 goals in quick succession. The St Joseph’s defence were under serious pressure but remained resilient with Áine Nash and Niamh Mulqueen clearing the ball off the line with one minute to go. The match ended 4-9 to 4-3 and St Joseph’s had claimed the All Ireland 7s ‘B’ trophy for the first time after a hard fought campaign.
Huge congratulations to our panel who have worked hard for weeks training and preparing for this. We at St Joseph’s are very proud of this achievement.

MUNSTER 7's CHAMPIONS
Congratulations to our junior sevens Cup and Plate panels who took part in the Munster 7’s championship in Mallow GAA complex on Wednesday 1st October. Having won the All Ireland “C” competition last year, our girls were now competing at a higher level “B” grade which proved to be a tougher challenge. Even so, our girls worked very hard. Our Plate panel made it to the semi-final in their group, winning one game, drawing one and losing one. Our cup panel had more success beating Coachford Co Cork 5-6 to 0-2, Drom B, Co Limerick 4-5 to 2-1, Lismore, Waterford in the semi-final 7-5 to 3-2 and Hazelwood College, Dromcolliher Co Limerick in the final 2-5 to 2-2.
Our cup team will now represent Munster in the 7’s All Ireland finals in St Peregrines GAA Club, Blanchardstown Dublin on Saturday the 11th of October. Best of luck from all at St Joseph’s.
