CONGRATULATIONS TO MICHAEL FITZGERALD ON WINNING A UNICEF YOUTH ACTIVISM SCHOLARSHIP

UNICEF Ireland wants to support students to start a global movement for change beginning in our own communities. A youth activist is someone who cares about what happens in their community, school, or the world, who is willing to campaign for the change they wish to see in the world!

In order to support our young people to be catalysts for change UNICEF has awarded a number of scholarships to students to train them and equip them with skills that will help them to be a force for good as they move into their adult lives.

Michael entered an online application process through UNICEF Ireland (who deliver the training) and wrote about issues which interested him. We understand that a small number of students are selected annually to take part in each round of the programme.

UNICEF Ireland's Activism Training Programme involves engaging with justice, humanitarianism, and encouraging activism in local communities. Michael will also learn the internal workings of the United Nations, of which UNICEF is an internal organisation. The course is running in the office of the Ombudsman for Children, in February.
