History Quiz

history

Well done to our First Year students who participated in our History Quiz. The quiz was compiled and run by TY students from the last two years and was excellently conducted by Quizmistress Laura Brassil. The teams were mixed through the class groups to help the students to meet new friends. Twenty-six teams competed and on 76 points we had a tie for first place between Team 9 (Dillon Gunning, Oisin Flynn, Charlotte Davis, Hollie Nugent) and Team 18 (Oisin O'Connor, Evan Maxted, Noah Doherty, Conor O'Donnell). Team 18 narrowly won the Tie-Break round on Thurday morning. They were presented with the first prize of a set of Easons vouchers by Mrs Coman, Principal.
Pictured above are the winning teams. Congratulations to all and thank you to Mr Fahy for organising the event.

TY Taster Day in the Shannon College of Hotel Management

TY students were invited to spend a day in the Shannon College of Hotel Management recently. The students really enjoyed the taster programme which had been organised for them. It gave them a good insight into the different courses offered and the possible future career paths which might be open to a graduate of the college.

Drumming workshop

The First Year and Transition Year music classes enjoyed a pop drumming workshop with John Hennessy. The students learned about the importance of rhythm and the role of the drum kit in pop music.Students had great fun trying out a variety of rhythms on the drum kit. Some students proved to be natural drummers and played amazing music.

We will have John Hennessy back in the new year for another enjoyable workshop.
