On Monday, October 9th, TY students together with Mr. Fahy, Ms. McCarthy and Mr. Monaghan left Tulla after a very early alarm clock call. The group was lucky enough to get a booking to see Kilmainham Gaol and students and teachers alike were very impressed. The tour guides were passionate about bringing history alive in this building which is so intimately associated with Irish History. The stories of inmates were heart-wrenching and the building itself seemed to echo with their sadness. We were sorry that busy day did not allow even longer to spend at the Gaol.
From there, we crossed the Liffey, to visit the Zoo. Some of us had never visited the Zoo so we were delighted to have a good look around. Then we were taken on an Ecology Workshop in the Phoenix Park. This covered a habitat study, which gave us a great understanding of this section of the Leaving Cert. Biology programme. Thanks to all the teachers who travelled with us.

The TY year accompanied by Mr. Kelly, Mr. Hanrahan and Ms Walsh took a 2 night trip to Achill Island, Co. Mayo last Monday to Wednesday (25th- 27th September). They stayed in 'bean an tí' houses and participated in activities facilitated by Coláiste Acla. They took part in surfing, cliff diving, bog assault courses and kayaking. In the evenings they headed to the céili's where they learned (attempted) to dance and played games as well as the all important 20 minutes phone time! The weather was lovely until Wednesday when the island was soaked but this didn't stop us from having an excellent time. On Wednesday when everyone sat down to a hot bowl of soup to warm up there was an atmosphere of disappointment as we had to head back home after a fantastic 3 days of fun and laughs. Everyone enjoyed the trip and can't wait for another of its kind in the upcoming year.
Chuaigh na daltaí ón idirbhlian go hAcaill le triúir múinteoirí ón scoil- An t-Uasal Ó Ceallaigh, An t-Uasal Ó hAnracháin agus Iníon Breathnach Dé Luan seo caite. Mhair an turas ar feadh trí lá. D'fhanamar sna tithe le mna tí ón ceantar. Ghlacamar páirt sna himeachtaí ar nós surfáil, cadhcáil, pleidhchíocht poirteacht agus tumadh. Chuamar go dtí coláiste gach tráthnóna chun damhsa céilithe a fhoghlaim. D'imríomar cluiche spraoi agus don fiche nóiméad deireanach fuaireamar ár bhfóin. Bhí an aimsir go maith go dtí Dé Céadaoin nuair a bhí an hOileáin ar maos leis an báisteach a thit tharr an oíche ach níor chuir sé sin isteach orainn. Nuair a shuíomar síos don babhla anlann tráthnónna Céadaoin bhí saghas díomá ar gach duine mar bhí sé in am dul abhaile. Bhain gach duine taiteanamh as an turas agus táimid ag súil leis an chéad turas eile!

St Joseph's Tulla 2-13
Ennistymon CBS 0-9
St Joseph's Tulla captured the first year hurling title at Cusack Park on Monday. Both teams had comfortably beaten all opponents on the way to the final.
The winners led at the break, 1-8 to 0-4, the goal coming from full-forward Seán Withycombe.
An excellent Aaron Curtis goal 10 minutes from time sealed the result. It came after a period of sustained Ennistymon pressure but they were unable to breach the line of Evan Nugent, Adam Hogan and Mick Ryan.
Aaron Shanahan also made two great saves at the very beginning and end of the game.
Josh Guyler, Killian McGroary and Keith Barry were best for the Ennistymon side.
After the game, John Fawl, Clare post primary liaison officer, presented captain Oisín Clune with the cup.

On May 4th, TYs left the school promptly at 9am as they were warned that the tide would not wait for us. We hit the water at 10am and students thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Thanks to the instructors at Bens Surf Clinic, everyone had a safe lesson and had great fun. Students were exhausted after the lesson and needed a little mutual support to get out of their surfing gear. Our next activity – a cliff walk from Liscannor along the cliffs of Moher. The weather was in our favour as it was dry and clear. Students enjoyed the magnificent views and had lunch looking out over the Atlantic. The views were stunning. TYs and staff thoroughly enjoyed the day.
